An unrealised proposal for a Zune brand re-fresh. For the re-fresh the brands core values of human, sharing and premium were translated into the theme of storytelling.
Storytelling is about sharing your experiences with someone.
Storytelling can be exchanged by humans in many different ways. i.e. reading, writing, singing, music, theatre, dance, performance, art etc.
Theatre sets were taken as the main inspiration for visually communication. The idea of taking objects and props and then building scenes and small worlds out of them to tell stories.
The idea was to develop a library of imagery, patterns, shapes and forms that Zune worlds can be built and collaged from. This system allowed for the brand to constantly evolve and reinvent itself.
To accompany the Zune world a typeface was created based on the transformation of the Zune logo into a grid.
